Terms and How To Order
We accept orders by phone, fax and mail. (Email messages are not always secure, so we suggest you not put your credit card number on-line.)

Your minimum deposit must be 15% of items ordered, not including packing and shipping costs. Prices for international orders are the same as USA prices.

Deposits can be made by check, money order, credit card, wire transfer.

Final payment is due prior to shipment; this payment must be made by check or wire - no credit cards. All payments must be in US$; all checks must be drawn on a bank with a branch in the USA.

We send an invoice for the balance due about two weeks before the dome is ready to ship. Packing and shipping charges will be added to the cost of items ordered. Maryland tax (5%) is added only to orders delivered in Maryland.

Schools and other institutions in the USA may order via a duly authorized purchase order with payment Net 30.

After we receive your order, we will mail you a written confirmation, including a predicted completion date and estimated packing/shipping charges.  We send you an advance copy of the installation manual, and a tip sheet on handling the big box when it arrives. You will also receive a free copy of At Home in a Dome or a credit for the booklet if you've already purchased it.

Normal delivery times are shown below, but when you order, the schedule for any given dome size may be longer or shorter than normal.  When we  receive an order for a new dome, we place it in the queue for that dome size.  Orders are produced first come, first served.

(Please note:  During the late summer, 2000, our fiberglass fabricator moved to larger space and increased prodution capacity.  Delivery time for 6' domes is sometimes shorter than the four weeks shown above.  As we catch up on the queue for 10' domes, that schedule may be shorter as well.  Please call for more information on the size you are interested in.)

Packing and Shipping Prices

Your HOME-DOME or PRO-DOME will shipped "knocked down" (i.e., in parts) and packed  in a wooden crate.   Each ROBO-DOME is shipped fully assembled in a strong cardboard carton strapped to a pallet.

Our experience is that good packing greatly reduces shipping damage. For example, here are photos of a crated HD-6T, first closed, then opened.

Our normal packing is for motor freight shipping within North America and includes the dome, accessories, and hardware. Unusual purchase combinations, special orders, or custom shipping arrangements may affect the actual packing charge. Factory pickup saves packing and shipping, but Maryland tax (5%) will apply.

Shipping Within the U.S.A.
Electronics ordered separately from a dome will be shipped by Priority Mail, UPS or Fed Ex, but all dome shipments are by motor freight (boxes are too large and too heavy for package delivery services.)

Dome shipments are FOB our fiberglass fabricator in Maryland. Motor freight charges are based on weight and destination/distance. It is our policy to pass along our discounts with freight carriers to our customers.

Motor freight carriers offer "tailgate" service. This means that the delivery schedule will be coordinated with you, but you must have a plan for how to get the crate from the tailgate of the truck to the ground at delivery time.  For example, some freight terminals offer liftgate service (extra charge), or you can have the crate delivered to a site with a loading dock.

We  send you a tipsheet with many ideas on how to manage the delivery of the big box. Customers have shared their experiences with us and there are many solutions that work quite well.

Most customers request that we make all shipping arrangements, and that freight be prepaid through us. However, you may handle all shipping details with your own carrier if preferred.

International Shipping
We ship domes to customers throughout the world. Our export prices are the same as product prices in the USA. However, shipping costs will be higher because of the longer distances.

We can arrange air or ocean shipping. Our freight carriers offer door-to door service in many countries. The cost of air freight is usually about 30% higher than ocean shipping, but the transit times are much shorter. International freight charges are based on the dimensions of the crate, as well as weight and destination.

Packing charges for air freight are the same as normal packing costs (above). However, crates for ocean shipping are constructed of heavier, special treated materials, and thus the ocean packing charges are higher than the normal prices.

Duty and taxes are paid by the purchaser at the time of delivery. For customs purposes, domes are classified as pre-fabricated buildings.
